Li Huowang lives two lives. When he closes his eyes he wakes in a grim cultivation world where a figure he calls Master raises him as a living pill furnace among bizarre gods and crooked immortals. When he opens them he is a patient in a modern psychiatric hospital, told the other world is a hallucination. Unable to tell which reality is real, he hunts for the truth while each world insists the other is false.

Tencent Video unveiled the adaptation at its animation annual showcase on August 10, 2024, retitling it Huo Wang after protagonist Li Huowang; the source novel by Foxtail Quill ran on Qidian from November 2021 to October 2023 and is published in English by Wuxiaworld as Dao of the Bizarre Immortal. Animation is handled by D.Rock-Art (Hangzhou Heiyan Network Technology), the Unreal Engine focused 3D studio behind Knights on Debris. An 18 episode first season cleared Chinese regulatory review in late December 2025, and a new trailer shown at Tencent Video's 2026 annual release on June 22, 2026 reaffirmed the 2026 premiere window; an exact date has not been announced. A separate live action drama adaptation, also titled Huo Wang, entered production in 2026.
