In the Tang dynasty capital of Luoyang under Empress Wu Zetian, the Dali Temple, the empire's high court, answers to an unusual deputy chief: Li Bing, a man cursed into the form of a white cat. Chen Shi, a guileless young man from the countryside, lands a job there and follows the cat official and his misfit colleagues through murder cases that keep leading back to palace politics.

Season 1 (12 episodes) premiered April 10, 2020 as a bilibili exclusive and opened to a 9.8 user score on the platform; season 2 (12 episodes) moved to Tencent Video with Penguin Pictures co-producing and began airing November 26, 2022. A 16 episode third season, produced with Tencent Video, is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
