After their bodies are destroyed in the heavenly tribulation, Nezha and Ao Bing survive only as souls, and the immortal Taiyi Zhenren races to rebuild them from a seven-colored lotus. Jiaozi returned to write and direct this sequel for Chengdu Coco Cartoon and Enlight, released for Chinese New Year on January 29, 2025. It became the first animated film to pass $2 billion worldwide and stood at about $2.27 billion as of mid-2026, making it the highest-grossing animated film and the highest-grossing non-English-language film of all time, and one of the five highest-grossing films overall. Its China gross set the record for the largest total ever earned in a single market, passing the domestic run of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After an initial subtitled overseas rollout, A24 released an English-dubbed version in North America on August 22, 2025, with Michelle Yeoh voicing Lady Yin.
