Guoman国漫

Short for "national comics/animation": Chinese-made animation and comics, as opposed to imported Japanese works.
Guoman compresses guochan donghua/manhua ("domestically produced animation/comics") into two characters. It carries a mild patriotic charge: platforms and fans use it when celebrating that a domestic work can stand next to Japanese imports. bilibili's dedicated section for Chinese animation is labeled Guochuang (国创, "domestic original"), a sibling coinage you will see on release charts.
In practice guoman and donghua overlap heavily in fan usage. Guoman leans toward "the domestic industry and its rise" while donghua is the neutral medium word that international fans adopted.
